The Object of a Wedding Reception

What are your goals for your wedding reception? Family reconnecting? Friends dancing? Guest making memories and celebrating? Perhaps all of these and more...? Here are a few tips to help everything come together cohesively for any gathering.

Social Hour - Everyone will respect a tight timeline to keep the fun moving along. However, allow a little time for guests to mingle, relax, visit and catch up with each other. Planning up to an hour of social time between the ceremony and dance will allow your guests an opportunity to visit. Follow this with dinner or hors d'oeurves and your guests will be ready to hit the floor instead of visiting after the dance music has kicked in.

Room Layout - Make the evening easy for your guests to be involved in the fun. If possible have the dance floor close to the main seating area so guests don't have to migrate to the dancing area. Having the bar in the same room will also facilitate the fun. People tend to hang out in groups near the bar - which can overflow onto the dance floor.

Review what your goals for your reception are prior to your event. Many times you can work with your venue on various options to fit your needs. All of these tips will make it easier for your entertainer to interact with your guests to create a fun dance atmosphere.
