Picking music for those "special" wedding dances

Music…it’s one of the most powerful forces in our culture.  There are very few things that can stir so much passion and emotion in our daily lives.  For example I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s and a victim of the “Boy Band” movement (mostly I blame my two older sisters for that now).  But when I hear a NKOTB track, I can remember exactly what I was doing the very moment I heard it.  For most of us we attach our memories and experiences to music.  

That is why picking those “special” songs for your wedding reception can seem like such a difficult task.  First off let me explain what songs we are talking about. These are those “shining moment” or spotlight dances such as: the Bride and Grooms First Dance, Father / Daughter Dance, Mother / Son Dance or others that you may deem important.  Really the sky is the limit when it comes to the type of spotlight dances you do and who is involved with them.  These are the moments that you and you family will remember for a very long time. And your Wedding DJ is an integral part of those moments.  

In the course of planning the details of your wedding reception music, you will get a lot of advice.  But the best piece of advice I can give a Bride or Groom when it comes to these “Special Dances” is simple…Pick songs that are meaningful to you and the people that will be part of that “Special Dance.”  At the risk of being redundant…THESE ARE MOMENTS THAT YOU WILL REMEMBER FOR A LONG TIME!  Do not just pick some random song.  It is this author’s opinion that doing so cheapens that part of your celebration.
